Buildertrend’s commitment to building stronger communities leads to record year of impact
OMAHA, Neb. (January 11, 2023) – Buildertrend’s culture of giving goes back to its founding in 2006, but a catalog of new internal programs helped mobilize the company’s passionate workforce to make an even greater social impact during the last two years.
In 2021, the company’s employees donated more than 3,000 volunteer hours to community organizations through an internal paid time off program that supports volunteerism.
In 2022, Buildertrend increased its commitment to community service and doubled the number of paid volunteer hours each of its employees receives to 16 hours, annually. The result: employees logged more than 11,500 volunteer hours in the communities where they live and work – more than tripling their collective impact from the previous year.
“Building better communities is rooted in our business and culture,” said Dan Houghton, Buildertrend’s CEO and co-founder. “Our teams understand that when we work together toward a common cause, we can accomplish great things for our customers, our communities and each other.”
Buildertrend also heightened its long-term partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Omaha, a relationship that began in 2014 when Habitat Omaha started using Buildertrend’s industry-leading construction project management software for their builds.
Driven by a shared passion for building, 2022 marked a new milestone for the partnership. For the first time, Buildertrend committed financial and volunteer support to build a whole home in North Omaha, making the dream of home ownership a reality for one local family.
Through this initiative and other home builds, Buildertrend employees devoted more than 2,800 volunteer hours in the name of safe and affordable housing in 2022 alone.
“We know great companies give back, that’s why we’ve established community partnerships in areas where we know we can make the biggest difference,” said Houghton. “I am so humbled by the efforts of our team members, who took action to improve the causes and communities they are passionate about.”
Buildertrend’s charitable giving initiative, BT Cares, is managed by an internal committee that is tasked with reviewing outside and internal requests for funding. Guided by five foundations for giving, Buildertrend employees are empowered to request funding in support of nonprofit organizations that are important to them.
Propelled by its employees and community partners such as Habitat Omaha, Buildertrend increased its charitable giving by 66 percent in 2022.
With the new year underway, the company is setting its sights on more improvements to its corporate social responsibility strategy. In addition to renewing their commitment with Habitat Omaha to build another single-family home in 2023, they recently announced an employee charitable donation match of up to $150.
