Buildertrend honored as the 2021 Volunteer Organization of the Year by United Way of the Midlands

The accolade was presented at the United Way annual meeting in recognition of Buildertrend’s employee volunteerism efforts

United Way Volunteer Award

OMAHA, Neb. (Oct. 29, 2021) – Buildertrend, an Omaha-based software company, was honored as the 2021 Volunteer Organization of the Year recipient by United Way of the Midlands for its resilient workplace culture committed to volunteerism. This is the fourth year the award has been given and the first year Buildertrend has been selected as the recipient.

Each year, United Way of the Midlands recognizes a business as the volunteer organization of the year during its annual meeting. The award showcases an organization that champions community volunteer opportunities throughout its workforce. Selection is based on the percentage of a company’s total employees who participated in United Way volunteer events during the previous campaign year.

Shawna Forsberg, CEO and president at United Way of the Midlands, presented Brandy Menaugh, vice president of people at Buildertrend, who leads the company’s community volunteer program, with the accolade during the awards portion of the meeting. Both Menaugh and Chief Strategy Officer David Arnold attended the event on behalf of the Omaha-based tech company.

“We are so pleased to recognize the Buildertrend team at our annual meeting,” said Forsberg. “They have a culture that inspires people to give back and that was truly evident with Buildertrend’s participation with numerous partners funded by United Way of the Midlands. We truly appreciate their partnership and support.”

Buildertrend has maintained a strong relationship with United Way of the Midlands since 2019 and continues to utilize its volunteer time off program to support the organization’s initiatives. In the last year, Buildertrend has partnered with United Way in the following ways:

  • Hosted Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) Nebraska’s annual Leadership Development Conference, which gathered more than 50 student leaders from across the state to enhance their leadership skills.
  • Participated in the 2021 Day of Action by coordinating volunteer events at OneWorld Community Health Centers, Nebraska Children’s Home Society, The Hope Center for Kids and Completely KIDS.
  • Established community outreach and organized volunteer opportunities at HETRA, Completely KIDS, Family Inc., Siena Francis House, NCHS, The Hope Center for Kids and OneWorld Community Health Centers.
  • Assembled 4,000 care kits with full-sized hygiene products for United Way’s Shine Bright Initiative “Care Kits for Kids,” which more than 100 Buildertrend employees participated in.

“Buildertrend has always prioritized giving back, and the pandemic has challenged us to be more intentional about how we support our community,” said Menaugh. “Our partnership with United Way has helped us find new ways to connect our employees with the Omaha community and make a lasting impact on those who need it most.”

In 2021, Buildertrend doubled down on its commitment to volunteering and increased the amount of paid volunteer time off each employee receives from eight to 16 hours per year. This increase allows employees more time to give back to organizations they are most passionate about. The company also introduced a new workplace award to recognize employees who go above and beyond in the community. The quarterly accolade recognizes an individual employee for their tireless efforts of giving back to the community. As a reward, Buildertrend gives the selected employee a $1,000 company bonus and a $1,000 company-sponsored donation to the nonprofit organization of the employee’s choice.
