construction2style Behind the Business: Onboarding Buildertrend … for real this time (Part 2 of 5)

This week we bring you the second installment in a series highlighting construction2style, a design + build firm based in Minnesota. In this five-part feature, you’ll hear from husband-and-wife duo, Jamie and Morgan Molitor, who tried Buildertrend in the past – and ended up coming back. Here’s their story of why they gave Buildertrend a second chance, and what made them stick with it.

It wasn’t love at first sight for construction2style when they first tried Buildertrend.

When the team started using the platform, it became just another tool they had to learn. Morgan Molitor, co-owner of construction2style, felt like the burden landed solely with her to get her team bought in and trained on the software. As a busy business owner, she didn’t have time to keep her crew accountable.

So, they quit before getting the chance to see the benefits Buildertrend could provide.

Luckily, we were persistent in winning them back. Hear how we changed – and they did, too – for software success the second time around.

Giving Buildertrend another try

“We tried using Buildertrend a couple other times,” Morgan said. So naturally, there were hesitations about giving it another go.

But the Molitors were convinced the value Buildertrend could bring their business was worth it.

At the beginning, the team went through a few small growing pains – which was to be expected when changing processes – but it didn’t take long to get past the initial hurdles. For three weeks, Kayla Shulz, director of design and operations, worked one-on-one with a Buildertrend coach to create a strategic plan for bringing on the rest of the team.

From there, it only took one or two meetings for the team to see that Buildertrend was really going to help them in their day to day.

I will never force anything on my team. They all have to be comfortable with it.
