Buildertrend builds the next generation of tech talent through product engineering internship
OMAHA, Neb. (May 14, 2026) — Buildertrend, the leading construction management software platform for homebuilders, remodelers and specialty contractors, welcomes its tenth cohort of summer engineering interns this month.
During this 10-week program, aspiring product engineers join established teams and complete work that supports the leading construction management platform trusted by residential builders worldwide.
The 2026 cohort includes students from the Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management, Iowa State University, McGill University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, University of Nebraska–Lincoln, University of Nebraska–Omaha and Westmont College.
In addition to real-world experience, the program also emphasizes connection and community. Throughout the summer, interns take part in activities that showcase Omaha’s local culture, including events like the College World Series, a visit to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo and Tree Rush Adventures at Fontenelle Forest. For participants relocating to Omaha for the summer, Buildertrend provides short-term housing in partnership with the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Combined, these experiences help students build relationships that extend beyond the internship.
“Supporting early career talent is part of building a stronger tech community,” said Dan Houghton, CEO and co-founder of Buildertrend. “This program allows us to invest in the next generation of innovators while strengthening the future of our business and the industry.”
For many participants, the internship leads directly to full‑time roles at Buildertrend, underscoring the company’s commitment to developing talent and building teams driven to change the way the world builds.
