Buildertrend honored with 2021 Paper Anvil Awards for excellence in workplace communications

Buildertrend awarded PSRA

Internal team wins Best of Show and Award of Merit for internal campaign strategy and execution during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

OMAHA, Neb. (April 15, 2021)Buildertrend, an award-winning technology workplace, received two esteemed PRSA Nebraska 2021 Paper Anvil Awards for its excellence in the public relations business practice.

The Paper Anvil Awards is an annual competition that acknowledges the best public relations work across the state of Nebraska. Presented by the PRSA Nebraska chapter, applicants are a mix of seasoned professionals and students who reside in the state.

This year, the Nebraska chapter exceeded its goal in applicant submissions and presented 159 Paper Anvil Awards and only two Best of Show awards. The gala, routinely held in person, was celebrated virtually for the first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Buildertrend’s “Best Work from Home Ever” campaign received Best of Show in the internal communications category. Out of 187 applicant submissions, Buildertrend was one of two companies selected to receive this top honor.

The campaign was designed to boost morale, support employees and foster a new sense of culture and connectedness within weeks of the start of the pandemic, after Buildertrend’s entire workforce entered a mandatory work-from-home status. Developed by Buildertrend’s brand team, an internal communication plan was executed to emphasize the importance a healthy work-life balance and promote mental health resources and activities for employees to partake in virtually.

“For Buildertrend to win Best of Show, which is the top award given for internal communications, during a pandemic, which caused teams to work remotely, is truly impressive,” said Jill Heggen, PRSA Nebraska chapter president. “We look forward to highlighting more of their work in the future and commend their efforts to engage employees through stellar internal communications and award-winning virtual Town Halls.”

In addition, Buildertrend was presented with the Award of Merit in the Events and Observances category for its all-company virtual Town Hall meeting. Wanting to keep employees engaged, informed and connected, Buildertrend revamped and transformed the all-company meeting into an entirely remote experience.

This live virtual event replicated many of the traditional aspects of the quarterly meeting, giving more than 500 employees an opportunity to connect in one virtual room, celebrate company performance, recognize their top-performing peers, directly ask questions live to Buildertrend’s co-founders, meet newly hired teammates and connect at a post-meeting virtual happy hour – all from the safety of their own homes.

“When our company enacted a mandatory work from home status in March 2020, we had no idea the extent of how long it would last,” said Megan Longo, vice president of brand and public relations at Buildertrend. “I’m proud to work alongside such a creative team that is constantly finding new ways to engage their teammates and make Buildertrend the unique, award-winning culture that it is today.”
