How does the Gusto integration work with Buildertrend?

Manual payroll can be a time-consuming process that involves managing spreadsheets, timecards and day-off requests. However, with the integration of Buildertrend and Gusto payroll, this process can be streamlined. By syncing the Time Clock feature with the human resources management platform, shifts can be easily transferred between the two systems. This automation saves time and reduces errors when it comes to calculating employee hours and pay.

The Time Clock feature in Buildertrend allows employees to easily manage their clock in and out responsibilities, leading to faster payroll processing through Gusto. Time off and holiday calculations are also automated with no extra steps required. Gusto also saves time on taxes by calculating and filing them with the appropriate government agencies during each payroll run. This service is included with Gusto, unlike other systems that charge extra for it.

With this integration, taxes – including federal, state and local – are automatically paid. It also handles different pay rates, pay schedules and pay types – all with no hidden fees or contract required.
Installation
- Log in to your Buildertrend account.
- Navigate to Company Settings.
- Select Gusto card in Integrations then Get Started.
- Click either Create Account if you’re new to Gusto or Already Have Account.
- A pop up window will appear to authenticate and finish the connection.
- Next, you’ll need to link Internal Users to Gusto employees. To do so, follow these steps:
- Internal Users > select user
- Navigate to Payroll tab and sync with Gusto
- You’re all set!

Frequently asked questions about the Gusto integration
Gusto is a payroll platform that establishes a fixed payroll period per account upon creation. Buildertrend does not affect the payroll period but must adhere to Gusto’s. When integrated, a new filter will facilitate running in the correct period. If attempting to send a time shift outside the current one, Buildertrend will notify the user the shift cannot be sent.
Buildertrend’s integration with Gusto is available in all 50 states. It’s the same price whether you run payroll in one state or all 50.
Yes, Gusto integrates with popular financial software including QuickBooks, Xero, plus time-tracking, expense software and more.
Yes. Overtime can be set up in Gusto by the employee wage type. Additionally, overtime needs to be set up in Buildertrend in the Time Clock settings. Once set up, overtime automatically calculates on the time shift data sent from Buildertrend.
