Linking Cost Catalog Items to Takeoff Parts

This article will walk through the steps to apply cost and markup percentages to a Takeoff part.

To begin, ensure you have duplicated the Starter Packages in Takeoff. This will be the set of Assemblies that you can update and revise without impacting the original Square Takeoff Starter Packages that are defaulted.

 

To do so, launch Buildertrend Takeoff and click on Templates.

 

 

Next. click Duplicate.

 

 

Update the Template Name and make sure to leave Default Group for the User Groups. Once updated, click Save.

 

 

Now we are going to link a current Buildertrend Cost Item to a Takeoff Part.

 

Once your Starter Package has been duplicated, take the below steps:

• Expand your New Template.

• Expand Framing Starter Package.

• Expand Interior Wall Framing (Linear).

• Expand 2×4 Interior Wall Assemblies.

• Expand 8ft 2×4 Interior Wall.

You should see the below Parts.

 

 

Next, click Edit next to the 2x4x16 Bottom Plate Part.

 

Locate the Cost Item section and type in the correct title from your Buildertrend Cost Catalog area and then click the eyeglass button.

 

For this example I am linking with the 2x4x16 stud Cost Item.

 

 

From the Cost Code Item Search window, check both boxes and click Select.

 

 

Finally, click Save.

 

 

Once the Takeoff Part and Buildertrend Cost Catalog cost item are linked, the cost and markup will carry over to the cost and markup fields in the Takeoff.

 

To View, click Edit next to the Part. Then click Properties.

 

 

For any changes that need to be made on the Cost or Markup for the linked Part, those will have to be done in the Buildertrend Cost Catalog.

 

Navigate to the Cost Item section in your Buildertrend account, once any costs or markup changes have been made, they will then be reflected in the corresponding/linked Takeoff Part.
