Introducing … BT Cares!

Simply put, “BT Cares” is our company initiative for community involvement and philanthropy. From sponsorships to volunteering to hosting events at our headquarters, we get involved with various organizations in the Omaha community throughout the year.

We’ve had a busy 2018 with our BT Cares events. As we approach this holiday season, and in the spirt of giving back, we’d like to tell you about some of this year’s highlights!

CodeCrush: This awesome event, created by the University of Nebraska Omaha, is an iSTEM immersion experience for middle and high school girls. CodeCrush gives its participants the keys to a future in IT.

Back in March, Buildertrend was happy to host and sponsor such an event that encourages young women to join the field that touches every aspect of our lives: social networks, smartphones, web design, robotics, healthcare, game development…you name it.

With the right skills, IT will take careers of these young women anywhere they want. As a tech company, we’re proud to help teach young women of the Omaha community just how true that is!

Inside/Outside Innovation Summit: In May, Buildertrend was proud to sponsor this 2-day conference that brought together startups, corporations, and the Nebraska community! During the I/O Innovation Summit, startup teams entered a showcase, corporate teams learned about the latest tools and techniques for accelerating innovation, and individuals attended to learn, engage, and connect with other innovators, instigators, and community members.

Future Builders Challenge: In mid-July, 20 teams of high school students from the Omaha metro area gathered at Buildertrend headquarters for the Future Builders Challenge. The teams developed business ideas around issues of people, places, and prosperity, and then presented their ideas to a panel of judges at the end of the event! The coolest part? Some of these high school students have even made their ideas a reality!

Big Omaha / Maha Music Festival: Over the weekend of August 17, we were proud to be the title sponsor of Big Omaha and Maha Music Festival.

Each year, the Big Omaha conference serves as a platform to engage, connect with, and share inspiration. This one-day conference is for the “do-ers,” the “go-getters,” and anyone with an idea, a dream, and a desire to make something happen. After the conference, Maha Music Festival takes the stage from Friday evening through Saturday night.

2018 marked the 10th year of Maha Music Festival, and it offered 15+ performances, food vendors, VIP areas (including our own), bars, and so much more. From Friday to Saturday, our tent buzzed with our employees, friends, and family, and we truly couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.

Brew Haha: What’s better than sampling food and beer from some of the best local breweries and restaurants in Omaha? Supporting Habitat for Humanity of Omaha, of course! Luckily, Brew Haha combines both of these things. Several Buildertrend employees volunteered their time to help make the event a success, and many employees attended Brew Haha to give back to the Omaha community!

Project Harmony – Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day: Each September, Project Harmony’s Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day celebration provides a casual and fun evening hosted by the Project Harmony Service League at Champions Run Country Club in Omaha. To raise funds for Project Harmony, an organization set out to protect and support children to end child abuse and neglect, this event presents live music, traditional Irish food and drink, and raffle prizes!

Project Harmony is a non-profit near and dear to the Buildertrend family, and we were more than happy to donate to the cause, along with having some of our employees attend the event!

Movember/Prostate Cancer Fund: What’s November without a mustache competition to help raise funds for prostate cancer research? Every year, Buildertrend contributes to Movember by organizing an in-house facial hair growing contest to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer. Throughout this November, our Buildertrenders have been busy growing mustaches and collecting donations for the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Adopt-A-Family: What has become a holiday season tradition, various companies and families participate in the Adopt-A-Family initiative by the Salvation Army of Omaha. Here at Buildertrend, our employees lead our participation in this effort to not only help a family in need, but also challenge each Buildertrend department to give back. There’s nothing more important than taking care of a family in need during the holidays!

Habitat Build Day: On November 14, two groups of Buildertrend employees volunteered their time to help Habitat for Humanity of Omaha by building homes. This event served as a great way to help the Omaha community, and our volunteers thought it was a cool experience to walk in our customers’ shoes for one day.

We have no intentions of slowing down our community involvement in the coming year, so if there’s a cause you’d like to see Buildertrend be involved in, let us know in the comments below!
