Plus-Addressing Overview

Plus-Addressing Overview

To improve security measures, Buildertrend now requires each user to log in with a unique email address. If multiple team members currently share the same email, you can use email aliases, also called plus-addressing, to create unique logins without setting up new accounts.

Plus-addressing adds a short tag to your existing email, creating a unique address that still delivers all messages to your original inbox. It doesn’t change how you send or receive mail.

For example, if your email is melanie@example.com, you can use aliases like:

melanie+1@example.com
• melanie+sub@example.com

Emails sent to any of these aliases all arrive in the original melanie@example.com inbox. The alias simply provides Buildertrend with a distinct login.

✏️Note: If a username conflict is detected during login, Buildertrend will suggest a plus-addressing alias. You can accept the suggestion or edit it to create your preferred version.

After verifying your password and logging in, you may use the plus-address as your new Buildertrend login moving forward. No changes take effect until you verify control of the inbox. This ensures only authorized users can create or update login credentials tied to a shared email address.
