Earning rebates often requires processes that are both tedious and time consuming. So why waste your time? Well, what if we told you there will soon be a way to make tracking purchases and collecting rebates simpler?

Brian Pavlick, president of CBUSA and general manager of materials at Buildertrend, joined Zach and Charley on “The Building Code” podcast to give an overview of Buildertrend Purchasing – a new feature that’s coming soon. Brian shares why this addition to our software will change the game for how our customers manage material purchases and earn cash back.

Here’s a quick preview with the top three takeaways from the episode.

1. What is Buildertrend Purchasing?

Buildertrend Purchasing is a new offering for all Buildertrend customers that’s going to give the advantages of the CBUSA model but be able to scale it much more broadly to a much bigger audience,” Brian said.

Builders will have the opportunity to earn rebates from the national suppliers we partner with by submitting purchase receipts through their Buildertrend account. Suppliers will then process a return, and builders will receive their funds efficiently through the use of Buildertrend Wallet. Builders who use Wallet can also make purchases and trace receipts back to the Cost Inbox where they’re scanned for additional rebate-eligible items.

Buildertrend Purchasing will be included for customers who subscribe to the Advanced or Complete package.

“I think it could really change the game for a lot of our customers,” Brian said.

2. How will Buildertrend Purchasing make it easier for builders to earn rebates?

“You’ve got to start at square one, which is, ‘Do you earn rebates?’ And a lot of contractors will say no, either because they don’t have the access, they don’t have the leverage, or they don’t have the time,” Brian said.

Like we said before, the traditional method for earning rebates requires a lot of time and effort to report purchases, track the return and then make sure the money actually makes it to your Wallet account. Buildertrend Purchasing will eliminate those hurdles with the use of technology that leverages other features in the platform that customers are probably already using.

When builders upload receipts, they’re able to leverage optical character recognition technology that will read receipts for them.

“This tool will find the pertinent data – whether it’s a SKU, a brand, a product description, a price, whatever it might be – and then the system is going to take it from there and calculate the rebate,” Brian said.

Once the receipt is submitted through Buildertrend, all you have to do is wait for your money to show up in your account.

3. What national suppliers are we already partnered with?

We know you’re excited to know whom we’re partnering with for this milestone feature release, so here’s what we’ve got so far.

“We’re under contract already with Generac, Schlage, Rinnai, HALO, HomeLink, Emser Tile, RTIC – and there’s a number more. I would suspect that in the next 90 days, we’ll probably have upwards of 10 to 12 total contracts that are finalized and active going into the fourth quarter,” Brian said.

By having these already-established supplier relationships and integrated rebates through Buildertrend Purchasing, you can add to your bottom line while focusing on the important stuff.

When will Buildertrend Purchasing be available?

You heard it here first – Buildertrend Purchasing is coming soon! We’re making it a whole lot easier for builders like you to submit material purchases and earn rebates from top national suppliers. Look for an official announcement in the near future.
