OMAHA, Neb. (May 12, 2021) – Buildertrend, an award-winning technology workplace, has been named for the second year in a row to Inc. magazine’s annual list of the Best Workplaces for 2021. With an engagement score of 96%, Buildertrend ranked among the highest scoring companies honored on the list.

As part of a prominent Inc.com feature, the list is the result of a wide-ranging and comprehensive measurement of American companies that have created exceptional workplaces and company culture whether teams are operating in person or remotely.

Of more than 3,000 submissions, Inc. selected 429 honorees this year. Each nominated company took part in an employee survey, conducted by Quantum Workplace, on topics including management effectiveness, perks and fostering employee growth. Each company’s benefits also determined the overall score and ranking.

In March 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Buildertrend enacted a mandatory work from home status for its entire workforce of more than 500 employees. The leadership team raced to reinvent its approach to fostering strong culture and employee engagement. Through a constant feedback loop and iterative approaches, adjustments were made to the company’s internal communication strategy and employee benefits. In addition, events were implemented to promote mental health resources and offer safe opportunities for employees to connect with one another and volunteer in the community.

“The definition of a positive workplace has changed drastically over the past year,” said Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief at Inc. magazine. “Stocked fridges and nap pods were no longer perks many companies could rely on once work went remote. So, this year’s list is even more important as it reveals organizations that continue to enrich the lives of its employees amid a pandemic.”

When it comes to a winning formula for creating a great workplace culture, Dan Houghton, chief executive officer of Buildertrend, said that it is critical to foster a sense of belonging and build a foundation of open communication and transparency.

“We want those who walk through our doors to feel like they belong, have a sense of security within their team and ultimately know that they are capable of succeeding beyond their own measure,” said Houghton. “Once you learn how to support your employees outside of goals and metrics, everything seems clearer.”

This is the second consecutive year Buildertrend has been nationally recognized for creating an exceptional workplace. In addition, the Omaha tech company was named by Baird Holm, LLC for the third year in a row as #1 in the Best Places to Work Omaha 2021 contest.

On May 7, after nearly 14 months working entirely from home, Buildertrend began a voluntary and phased return to office. The company continues to offer flexibility and the option for its employees to work from home for the remainder of 2021.
