OMAHA, Neb. (June 22, 2020) – Buildertrend, the leading construction project management software, is a contender for the first-ever North American Inspiring Workplaces Awards. One of just eight finalists in The Inspiring Workplace of the Year category, Buildertrend makes the shortlist for businesses across the continent that put employee engagement at the center of their workplace strategy.

Winners will be announced virtually this August. Inspiring Workplaces was created by the merger of The Employee Engagement Alliance and The Employee Engagement Awards, of which Buildertrend was a 2019 finalist for the Organization of the Year Award.

This honor continues a winning year for the Omaha tech company. Buildertrend was also named to Inc. magazine’s annual list of Best Workplaces for 2020, a competitive national ranking, and ranked #1 in Best Places to Work in Omaha for a second consecutive year.

“Our team is the heart of our organization. They drive the excellence of our software. That’s why we invest in their growth and happiness,” said Dan Houghton, co-founder and co-CEO of Buildertrend. “Engagement is fundamental to our success. We work every day to make sure our employees feel their work is meaningful.”

As part of the Midwestern Silicon Prairie since 2006, Buildertrend is on the cutting-edge when it comes to developing innovative construction tech and inspiring an environment that drives real business results. The company provides the construction industry with a better way to build – and its team members with a better way to work.

That better way to work starts with an engagement strategy that’s built upon continuous listening, which includes a foundation of biannual surveys, new hire check-ins, focus groups, deeper-dive roundtables, weekly manager meetings and exit conversations. Additionally, leadership continually works to find ways to help employees grow and achieve more success through a robust life skills program, workshops and educational conferences.

“It’s all about a coaching mindset, not manager mindset at Buildertrend,” Houghton said. “For us, engagement isn’t a program. It’s our way of managing. It’s how we treat each other. We believe those around us have the best ideas and engagement means being humble enough to know to listen.”

This strong workplace identity of connectivity continues amid the COVID-19 crisis as the Buildertrend team challenges itself to redefine what it means to be an inspiring workplace. Employees keep in touch through video meetings, virtual happy hours, social media contests and interactive online resources.

All this worked to do more than just connect everyone – it inspired even greater levels of productivity than before and positive business results.

“COVID-19 quickly showed us that it’s our people that inspire, not our office,” Houghton said.
