10 YouTube channels for construction pros to subscribe to

Sean Robinson / Buildertrend

So many YouTube videos, so little time.

With 300 hours of content uploaded every minute to the video-sharing platform, it’s easy to fall down a YouTube rabbit hole. Hours go by, there’s Cheeto dust all over your face and – WHOA! – it’s 4 a.m.

We’ve all been there. That’s why we want to help you cut through the noise to find quality content. The type that helps inspire, motivate and strengthen your business.

Lucky for you, with more than 50 million active content creators on the social media site, there’s plenty of construction YouTube channels to choose from. That’s a rabbit hole in and of itself. No need to fall down it though.

Here are 10 of our picks. Start here to learn new skills, see some awesome work and just be entertained (Cheetos not included with this list).

Matt Risinger and Build Show Network

The first suggestion is a two-for-one special! Matt Risinger is one of our favorite construction influencers and a Buildertrend customer himself. A builder from Austin, Texas, Risinger’s goal with his channel is to educate fellow contractors on building science and fine craftsmanship.

Digging even further into these topics is his Build Show Network, a channel that’s covered window install, optimizing insulation, building a new farmhouse to look 200 years old and more.

NS Builders

NS Builders comes from Nick Schiffer, another industry leader who also uses Buildertrend to help run his business. On this channel, Schiffer shares his keys to success, best practices that lead to high quality work and cups of coffee. Yep, you read that last one right. Over coffee break Q&As, Schiffer gets real with subscribers and tackles the questions most relevant to today’s contractors.

The Home Depot Pro Channel

One of the most trusted and well-known brands in America goes the extra mile here to become more than just a retailer. Whether you’re interested in learning about the newest products, tips to save money or want to stay up-to-date on new business tools, The Home Deport Pro Channel features weekly videos made just for contractors and other construction professionals. Basic DIYers, this channel is not for you.

Want to know if a certain product is worth the investment? Then this YouTube channel is for you. Dettmore101’s “Make$ or Cost$” series reviews the latest and greatest (or sometimes not-so-greatest) tools of the trade. He’ll give it to you straight – and potentially save your business a buck along the way.

AFT Construction

An award-winning homebuilder in Scottsdale, Ariz., AFT Construction is at the very tippy top of the game. But they want to help others get there, too. Their videos give viewers a glimpse into the care and detail it takes to be one of the best of the best in custom home construction.

This Old House

This Old House is home to more than 1 million subscribers, making it one of the biggest and best channels in the industry. Featuring expert advice on home improvement, remodeling, upgrades, tools and weekly how-to’s, their wide variety of content has amassed almost half a billion total views. Yep, that’s billion with a B. So, B sure to see what all the buzz is about for yourself!

Modern Builds

Here’s another channel with a following that’s more a roar than a whisper. However, it’s no wonder 1.35 million subscribers tune into Modern Builds with the type of content they pump out. Want to see a school bus convert into a tiny house? Learn how to make white cement? Or, watch an attic become a home theater?  Yep, they’ve done it all.

The DIY Network

Contrary to the title, The DIY Network isn’t just for DIYers. Their library of more than 2000 videos offers a complete and compressive look at every area of home improvement and renovation. Sure, there are plenty of basic tips, but you’ll also find tons of eye-catching inspiration for your next big project.

The Construction Channel

Watch and build. That’s The Construction Channel’s motto. Going beyond just contractor tips, this entertainment hub focuses on industry news, people and companies that really tell the story of today’s builders. This is content created by, for and about those that make up the industry.

Mike Palmer Homes

Colossal lakefront homes. Modern farmhouses. Winding driveways so long they never seem to end. Mike Palmer Homes builds it all and documents it here. Check out their best work and see how they bring it to life in each video.
